Here is an annual conference with a difference, a fast-paced day of insight and inspiration from an international array of art and design talent. It is curated and organised by It’s Nice That, a publishing platform that champions creativity online, in print and through a series of live events. Since the first symposium in 2012, Here has taken place in the splendid surroundings of The Royal Geographical Society in Kensington, west London.

Since the inaugural Here in 2012 we have welcomed Paul Smith, Erik Kessels, Adam Buxton, Marina Willer, Kate Moross, Christoph Niemann, Eike König, Annie Atkins, Ian Tait, Bob & Roberta Smith, Malika Favre, Gail Bichler and Nadav Kander among many others– you can watch videos from previous events on our archive page. Malika Favre is not only a woman with a superb illustration career, she’s a woman unafraid to make her interviewers blush. For these reasons, it was a real treat to hear what she had to say about her celebrated work and the development of her iconic style, in her hilarious talk at Here 2016: sharing as many home-truths as pearls of wisdom about the joys and pitfalls of the industry and collaborating with clients.
Born in France but based in London, Malika has been responsible for projects including 2013’s Typography Kama Sutra, a very saucy take on letterforms; and last year’s posters for the BAFTAs. Her illustration work is distinctive in its structure and use of block colours, which Malika puts down to her background in graphic design.
